This guide has three sections which answer the following questions:

a. How do I configure my email?

b. My email has stopped working - help!

c. I've forgotten my email password!

d. What support does QiQ provide for email configuration?

 

A. HOW DO I CONFIGURE MY EMAIL

There are two stages in configuring an email account.

1. Create the email account and 
2. Configure your email application to work with the email account. 

Instructions for these two steps are provided below.

Creating an Email Account
a. Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel) at https://cpanel..your-domain.com (replacing “your-domain.com" with your actual domain name!)
b. Click the Email Accounts icon
c. Click the CREATE button
d. Enter the user name for your email account
e. Set the password - make a note of the password in a secure place
f. Select how much storage space you want to allocate to the email address
g. Click the CREATE button 

Configuring your email application
There are many different email applications and computer operating systems so we are unable to provide specific information on each application. However, email applications only require certain information, and this is provided below.

User Name: This is your FULL email address e.g. [email protected]
Password: This is the email account password as specified in your hosting account control panel
Incoming server address: mail.your-domain.com (replacing "your-domain.com" with your actual domain name!)
IMAP Post: 993
POP3 Port: 995(not recommended)
Outgoing Server address: mail.your-domain.com (replacing "your-domain.com" with your actual domain name!)
SMTP Port: 465
IMAP, POP3 and SMTP require authentication

When you access an email account through a desktop email application such as Mac Mail or Outlook, the email application will require specific information about your email account. You can use the settings above to configure your email application. We also offer some automatic configuration scripts for common mail applications and operating systems. These can be accessed by: 

a. Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel) at https://cpanel..your-domain.com (replacing "your-domain.com" with your actual domain name!)
b. Click the Email Accounts icon
c. Alongside the email account, you wish to connect to, click the CONNECT DEVICES button.
d. Read the information provided. 

 

B. MY EMAIL HAS STOPPED WORKING - HELP!
Check our Status Page for any known outages.

Establish if the problem accessing your website is just for you or for everyone by testing the availability of your site here or here.

If the problem is just for you:
a. Restart your email application and, if no change, restart your computer.
b. Restart your modem/router.
c. Check to see if your IP Address is blocked by the server. Instructions for unblocking IP addresses on QiQ servers and information on why your IP has been blocked may be found here.
d. Check with your email software vendor that you are using a current release of their software. Recent changes to SSL encryption protocols have resulted in some email applications ceasing to work.
e. Check your email configuration settings - see the section below.

C. I'VE FORGOTTEN MY EMAIL PASSWORD

We do not have access to your email password. If you forget your email password you will need to reset it, it can not be recovered as it is stored on the server in an encrypted format for security purposes. 

To reset your email password:

a. Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel) a https://cpanel..your-domain.com (replacing "your-domain.com" with your actual domain name!).
b. Click the Email Accounts icon.
c. Alongside the email account, you wish to reset the password for, select Manage.
d. Enter or generate a new password.
e. Click the UPDATE EMAIL SETTINGS button.


D. WHAT SUPPORT DOES QIQ PROVIDE FOR EMAIL CONFIGURATION?

QiQ has responsibility for the server and ensuring the server is operating correctly we will run tests to ensure that this is the case.

Our email support is therefore limited to the following actions:

a. Testing your email account on the server is functioning correctly. This may require us to reset your email account password. 
b. Checking that your IP address is not blocked by the firewall. Please provide your IP address in any contact you make with us.
c. Confirm your email configuration details.
d. Resetting email passwords if requested.
e. Whitelisting your IP address temporarily while you configure your email devices.
f. Checking email access logs to see if they reveal the cause for any issue clients is facing.
